sonder, n. the realization that each random passerby is living a life as vivid and complex as your own.
~ from the dictionary of obscure sorrows.

In German it means “special”, just like the yarn I’ve worked with.

The third collaboration with my “personal” yarnie, my husband Marcin, the man behind the brand Martin’s Lab.
This time I was lucky to create a cabled, 100% reversible shawl in color created for me, a darkish, earthly green called Thicket.
Tibetan Singles is also the softest yarn I’ve worked with, almost indecenlty soft.

If you’d to use the same yarn you can find it here.

This simple but stylish shawl is engaging and rhythmic to knit, and easy and fun to wear. The entire body is worked in garter stitch with reversible cables. Each cable is introduced using the same chart, but the crosses will be staggered; the same Garter column is repeated between the cable columns.

Size
One: approx. 175cm/69” wide and 58 cm/22.75” long at center spine.

Yarn
2 skeins of Tibetan Singles by Martin’s Lab (65% merino; 20% Alpaca, 15% Yak; 480m/525y per 120g). Shown in colorway: Thicket.

Needles
3.25 mm/US #3 circular needle (80 cm/32” long).

Other
Cable needle, markers, tapestry needle for weaving.

Gauge
26 sts and 36 rows = 10 cm/4” in Garter st measured flat after wet blocking.
The gauge isn’t crucial on this project, but differences will affect the finished size as well as the required yardage.
